"The Speak Mandarin Campaign was launched on 7 September 1979 by the then prime minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew. The campaign was initially started to simplify the language environment, improve communication among Chinese Singaporeans from the various dialect groups, and create a Mandarin-speaking environment in support of the national bilingual education policy. Over the years, the campaign has evolved and expanded its goals to include the promotion of Chinese culture in general among Chinese Singaporeans."
A lot of the people I have met always talk about how they were unable to understand what their Chinese language teacher or tutor is teaching them as they were TOO FOCUSED on getting the technical part of Mandarin into the students. While there is nothing wrong with it, we believe strongly that instilling interest and making learning EASY for learners are more important than anything else.

Many people find Mandarin difficult as it can be confusing with 4 phonetics and most importantly, the characters do not look anything like the alphabets we are used to. As such, picking up this language has been a chore for many people out there.

Having personally and successfully helped many people love and enjoy learning Mandarin as a language, I realised it takes more than knowing the language. It takes passion and the ability to relate the art of mandarin through English to the students.
